The case for one-handed mobile games
A lot of mobile games assume you have both thumbs free and full attention to give. In reality we play them one-handed on trains, in lines, and while balancing everything else life throws at us.
One-handed design isn't a downgrade. FISHIN' FRENZY is a great example: cast, wait, swipe, all doable with a single thumb, and it never feels cramped or awkward.
Racing games like Neon Carve pull it off with tilt controls, and most good puzzle games only ever need one finger anyway. The genres that struggle are complex RPGs and strategy titles, which is fine, those deserve your full focus.
When I'm reviewing, I always test how a game feels in a real one-handed grip. If I have to stop walking and use both hands just to play, that's worth mentioning.
